Reading Across Cochise County is a fantastic initiative aimed at promoting literacy among Pre K-3rd graders in Cochise County, Arizona.

  • Purpose: The program encourages a love for reading and aims to improve literacy levels.
  • Community Involvement: Local businesses and community organizations play a crucial role by serving as points of contact for students to access FREE books.

How Reading Across Cochise County Program Works:

  • Registration: Parents or guardians register their child online using a provided QR code, or visit https://www.cochise.az.gov/945/Reading-Across-Cochise-County
  • Membership Card: Parents or guardians complete their child’s membership card.
  • Book Selection: Children choose one free book per visit from the selection.
  • Reading and Reflection: After reading, children return the book and an information index card to the participating business. The index card includes:
    • Student’s Name
    • Date
    • Book Title
    • Summary (a brief description of the story or main points)
  • Rewards: For every 3 books read, the child earns a reward provided by the business.

By supporting RACC, we’re helping Cochise County children develop a love of reading, improve their literacy skills, and build a foundation for lifelong learning.
