At American Southwest Credit Union, we believe strong communities are built by investing in the next generation of leaders. With that in mind, we were proud to support the Douglas High School National Honor Society as they attended the 2026 LEAD Conference in Washington, D.C.
A few months ago, Grace Docto, who leads the National Honor Society program at Douglas High School, reached out regarding the trip. By that point, the students had already done the hard work. They had raised most of the funds needed to attend. However, rising travel costs created a final gap. Because of that, we were honored to step in and help ensure they could take part in this opportunity.
Just as importantly, we want to recognize educators like Grace Docto and the DHS staff. Their impact goes far beyond academics. Through programs like the National Honor Society, students are shaped into disciplined, service-minded, and forward-thinking leaders.
In addition, Douglas High School continues to set a strong example in Cochise County. The school consistently creates opportunities that expand students’ horizons. For example, the LEAD Conference brings together high-achieving students from across the country. As a result, participants build leadership skills, form connections, and gain new perspectives.
Because of efforts like these, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that invest in our youth. At the same time, we are helping strengthen our schools and communities. These students represent the future of Cochise County. We are confident that their experiences today will shape tomorrow’s leaders.
Ultimately, this contribution may be small in scale. However, it supports a much larger vision. By investing in ambitious students today, we are helping build a stronger future for our region.
